Our economy double room was tidy and cozy, with a spacious bathroom, central heating, and a dining space, conveniently located near Palmerston North.

Loved the hotel, it was exceptionally comfortable with quiet location in the beautiful subtropical gardens on comfortable sun loungers...

The location was excellent in the beautiful subtropical gardens on comfortable sun loungers. the staff was willing to help. - the room was clean with access to a pretty covered verandah. - Soft bathrobes and fresh towels were a plus.

So glad we choose it, it's brilliant base for staying in Whanganui. The staff are well managed and friendly efficient, managed the parking on street. The location is central, so close to the shops/restaurants, shops and Whanganui river. A relaxing bar does the trick.

This is simply a most amazing place, beautifully appointed, all in an historic house. Truly given a taste of life in genteel times.. Very cool..Stayed out in the annexe.

There was no swimming pool.

Staff very helpful and friendly and made me feel very welcome. Room warm and comfortable. I would return to Braemar House if I was looking for accommodaiton in this area on the future.

Whenever we visit this venue, we always enjoy staying at this lovely historic place with a convenient location in beautiful subtropical gardens, offering comfortable sun loungers and a pleasant bar.

My travelling companion queried the cost of the room as we had thought when booking it was a regular room not a hostel room. This wasn't a huge big deal for us and the accommodation was adequate, but the owner used this as a cue to nut off at my friend for about 15 minutes. He seemed to be having a bad day or something, but it was quite inappropriate. He needs a holiday !

I believe there advertising is misleading. We paid $145 for a two night stay for two adults. We thought this was for the Bed and Breakfast accommodation. It turned out we were in the Youth Hostel Association rooms out the back. There were no basic facilities like towels, flannels etc. There were plenty of motels and even the Kingsgate hotel that were offing full service accommodation for $85 per room for two adults per night. We should in hindsight have stayed there.

The staff was well organized, friendly, and efficient in all services. the accommodation had a central setting in a nice, quiet neighborhood. - It was conveniently located next to the river, shops, main shops, and garden. - Our experience here was good.

The picture shown on the website was nothing like the actual room we stayed in. There was nothing wrong with the room it just wasnt as good as the one advertised nor was it in the house itself.
